Commenting ahead of the launch of the Saltire Prize, Leader of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland Tavish Scott said:
"Tomorrow's 'historic' launch of the criteria for the Saltire Prize is its twelfth 'historic' launch. How many such launches are we going to have before someone actually wins this prize?
"Meanwhile, back in the real world, Scottish marine energy companies are already facing a funding gap, they can't wait much longer.
"They need support for Research and Development to create world-beating energy ideas in Scotland.
"Republican petrol-heads in the USA have set up a marine energy research scheme. Ireland already has one. Scotland used to have one and then the SNP killed it off.
"The SNP must bring back genuine research support for marine energy, before Scottish companies have to pack up and give up."
