Commenting after the Presiding Officer announced that he has asked the Scottish Parliament's Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee to look into the truthfulness of ministerial replies to Parliamentary Questions, Tavish Scott, leader of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland said:
"The Presiding Officer has sent a very welcome warning shot across Alex Salmond's bow. He is quite rightly getting tough with Mr Salmond.
"A Standards Committee inquiry to look into the truthfulness of ministerial replies is unprecedented since 1999. This says a lot about the current government and its leader and is very welcome.
"Alex Salmond had better behave."
