Commenting on reports that RBS is set to award large bonuses, despite being on track for serious annual profit losses, Tavish Scott leader of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland said:
"It would be obscene if well heeled bankers who have wrought destruction on the Scottish financial reputation then pay themselves bonuses
"Although I welcome the Business Secretary's warning that banks should be 'mindful', we need action from the UK Government rather than commentary.
"Peter Mandelson seems to have forgotten that we own 70 per cent of RBS."
