Highland Lib Dem MPs Danny Alexander and Charles Kennedy will visit the Energy Saving Trust's advice centre in Inverness tomorrow [Friday] to highlight the freephone service available to Highlanders trying to lower their energy bills.
A survey which the MPs conducted earlier this year found that six out of ten respondents did not know that assistance may be available through energy suppliers with home insulation improvements.
Individually tailored advice is available to all by calling 0800 512 012.
Danny Alexander MP said:
"It's important that people across the Highlands are aware of the help that is available. The Energy Saving Trust works to advise people on what improvements they can make, and what support is available to help them."
Ross, Skye & Lochaber MP Charles Kennedy added:
"Improving home insulation can help lower energy bills and help the environment. I would encourage anyone who is struggling with energy bills or who thinks their home's energy efficiency could be improved to call 0800 512 012."
Notes:
Earlier this year, Danny Alexander and Charles Kennedy distributed almost 30,000 surveys across Inverness-shire, Nairnshire, Badenoch & Strathspey, Ross & Cromarty, Skye and Lochaber.
59.2% of respondents to the question 'Did you know that your electricity supplier may be able to help you with the costs of improving insulation?' answered 'no'.
The visit is taking place during Energy Saving Week (19th to 23rd October)
