Speaking about her decision to offer an opportunity to people of faith to discuss issues with her, local Liberal Democrat candidate Jean Davis said; "As a Christian myself I understand that people of faith have concerns about who would best represent them in Parliament following this election. I am therefore holding an open evening next week so that people can come and discuss issues of concern"

"I believe people should vote Liberal Democrat because we believe that the state should serve individuals and not the other way round. We oppose ID cards, the DNA database and detention without charge. We support the right to protest and freedom of speech, expression and religion."

"We believe we cannot simply carry on relentlessly using up our planet's natural resources and we have been pressing in Parliament for stronger laws to combat dangerous climate change. We would increase the number of renewable energy technologies to build a more self-sufficient, socially responsible energy economy."

"We believe in the fundamental worth and dignity of each individual. In the last three decades, inequality between rich and poor has increased. Our policies seek to combat an upward spiral of unemployment, poverty and benefit dependency driven by the current economic climate."

"So if this interests you come and meet me to discuss your issues. Drop in to St Peters Church Hall, Francis Street, Stornoway any time between 7 and 9pm on Tuesday 27th April for a coffee and a chat about the issues that are important to you."
