Commenting ahead of Stage 1 of the Scottish Government's Alcohol Bill, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:
"Scotland's drinking culture needs to change.
"Alcohol-related violence has taken its toll on our communities for too many years and the health impact of drinking to excess will be felt for generations to come.
"We support the public health purpose of the Alcohol Bill and will not block it at Stage 1. But the Scottish Government will need to address the serious and unresolved issues raised by the Parliament's Health Committee before we can allow it to progress further."
